Supervisor of Elections Office Resources

Usage policy

The Supervisor of Elections office is a nonpartisan public agency and does not support political activities. This office creates official documents, publications, and social media posts to promote voter education and increase voter participation in all elections. Often, these publications are required by law.

When candidates and/or political committees use our official materials to advocate for their aspirations or issues, the public is misled to believe that the Elections Office offers political support for a particular candidate, committee, or issue. All local candidates are provided this information during candidate qualifying.

To report an Elections Office resource violation, please call (386) 313-4170.

OFFICE SEAL and LOGO

The official seal of the Supervisor of Elections office is authorized by Section 98.015 (7), Florida Statutes. The purpose of the seal is outlined in law, and the seal itself is used solely for official publications of this agency.

Supervisor of Elections Kaiti Lenhart personally created the official seal and filed it with the Department of State, Division of Elections in 2015. Do not use the official seal of the Supervisor of Elections Office in your advertising, emails, or otherwise. Please call to report a violation: (386) 313-4170.

OFFICIAL SAMPLE BALLOTS

The official sample ballot, whether printed or shared on social media, is not intended for use by candidates or committees as a political advertisement to advocate for the election or defeat of candidates or issues. Taxpayer funds are used to publish, print, mail, and display these sample ballots as a public service before each election. Official sample ballots are required to be published by this office pursuant to Section 101.20, Florida Statutes.

Political committees and candidates must purchase their own supplies using campaign funds. Do not mark and distribute official sample ballots published by the Supervisor of Elections Office, which contain the official seal, logo, and Supervisor's name.

Political advertisements should be purchased and paid for by political parties, political committees, or candidates, with the proper disclaimer required by Section 106.143, Florida Statutes. This disclaimer requirement applies to ANY pre-marked printed sample ballot distributed prior to an election, whether by a campaign, committee, business, organization, non-profit, individual person, or group of people. There is no exception to this requirement. Reference: Section 106.143, F.S.

Please call to report a violation: (386) 313-4170.

WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA

The images created and shared on the Elections Office website (flaglerelections.gov) and official social media accounts are public domain. However, the seal is authorized for only specific uses by Florida Statutes. You’re welcome to share our posts on social media. Please do not download them and redistribute them in campaign email newsletters or other political advertisements if they contain the office seal. In short, the Elections Office does not support your political activities, and these images do not belong in political advertising. Please call to report a violation: (386) 313-4170.
