Offices On The Ballot
A special election will be held to fill vacancies in state offices which represent Flagler County:
- State Senate District 6
- State Representative District 24
State Senate District 6 includes St. Johns, Putnam, Flagler counties and parts of Volusia County. The special election will be held to fill the vacancy left by John Thrasher, who resigned the office to become president of Florida State University.
State Representative in District 24 includes Flagler and parts of St. Johns and Volusia County. The special election will be held to fill the vacancy left by Travis Hutson, who has resigned to run for State Senate District 6.
Candidates for these state offices file with the Division of Elections. Maps for these districts are available on our website: Precinct and District Maps.
Both of these districts are county-wide in Flagler County, all precincts will be open on Election Day.
New Registrations
If you are not registered, you must do so 29 days prior to Election Day. To register or change your party, please use the Florida Voter Registration Application and deliver or mail it to the Elections Office by the deadline: March 9, 2015.

New Registrations
If you are not registered, you must do so 29 days prior to Election Day. To register or change your party, please use the Florida Voter Registration Application and deliver or mail it to the Elections Office by the deadline: December 29, 2014.
Closed Primary Elections
Florida is a closed primary state. If you wish to vote in a partisan Primary Election, you must be a registered voter in the party for which the Primary is being held. All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote on issues and nonpartisan candidates in a Primary Election. If all the candidates for an office have the same party affiliation and the winner of the primary election will not face any opposition in the general election (i.e. no write-in candidates have qualified), then all registered voters can vote for any of the candidates for that office in the primary election. Party change deadline for the upcoming Special Primary Election is December 29, 2014.
Candidate Qualifying
Candidate qualifying has been announced by the Governor and will be held from 8:00 a.m. on December 1, 2014 through Noon on December 2, 2014. Candidates may either collect valid petition signatures within the district they are seeking no later than November 25, 2014 OR pay a the qualifying fee. State and Federal candidates must file with the Department of State, Division of Elections. Contact the qualifying officer for more information.
